Gujarat, one of the leading states for the industrial sector, has also given a roof to many top engineering colleges of India. In a few years, the state has become one of the best places for education in India. And people from all over the country come to Gujarat for getting a good quality education.

As I was planning to pursue engineering for better career opportunities, I had carried out detailed research for the best engineering colleges in Gujarat. Based on my research here I am listing down for you Top 5 engineering colleges in Gujarat.

Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar

IIT has been one of the most well-known and esteemed colleges in the field of engineering. Also, declared as College of National Importance by the Government of India. I had gone through their curriculum, which I found to be innovative and practical as well.

Their teaching approach is very flexible — they provide project-based study, liberty to go for dual majors, minors or honours, abroad research experience and a lot more. I had to eliminate the option of choosing IIT, Gandhinagar considering the higher fees they charge.

Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT), Gandhinagar

DAIICT has a sprawling campus and is designed and planned in a way, which supports the environment. DAIICT is known to celebrate their culture festival very magnificently. All the activities and events in the college are led by students committees and clubs.

The curriculum in DAIICT offers the students to select elective courses, which help them gain expertise in a specific area. If you are clear about choosing a specific field of engineering, then go for DAIICT, it will help you gain in-depth knowledge. Also, DAIICT has been accredited with NAAC A grade.

The loophole for me at DAIICT is that their batch sizes are higher, and they keep on adding more and more candidates to it. So, I think faculties will find it difficult to pay individual learning of a candidate.

Marwadi University (MU), Rajkot

After going through various colleges, I had narrowed down upon choosing Marwadi University to pursue engineering. The college falls into my criteria of choosing from every aspect from curriculum to campus life to advanced laboratories to faculties.

MU is one of the few colleges, which has been accredited with NAAC A+ grade and is awarded, as the Best Engineering College — India West 2016. Advanced laboratories and research facilities for every branch of engineering are available at MU. They also have a supercomputer, which is only with few universities of Gujarat.

The curriculum of engineering, at MU, facilitates a hands-on learning approach; they use a three-tier structure for education, which helps students gain professional attributes. PhD faculties are from well-known universities teach engineering at MU. Also, the campus life and culture of MU is very much vibrant.

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat

SVNIT, one of the oldest colleges in Gujarat, was established in 1961. The academics at SVNIT are good, and there are also PhD faculties in almost every branch of engineering. The infrastructure of SVNIT is decent, and the campus is pretty huge. I was looking for a good campus life along with academics and facilities. At SVNIT, I feel campus life is not much prevalent.

In case, you are planning to go for Computer Engineering then SVNIT is a must-go college for you. SVNIT is very well-known for the study of Computer Engineering and its placements.

Nirma University, Ahmedabad

Nirma University is one of the most prestigious universities of Gujarat. Institute of Technology, a division of Nirma University was established in 1995. The university has been accredited with a NAAC A grade. Nirma University’s record in terms of placement has been really good for many years and, also the companies coming for placements are well-reputed.

If you are planning to go for mechanical engineering, then you should go for Nirma University. Nirma is very well-known when it comes to the study of Mechanical engineering and recruitment for the same. Nirma University overall is a great college in terms of academics, culture, and infrastructure. But again they ask for a substantial investment, which I am not planning to invest.
